TerraClean returns to Autosport International 2019

TerraClean, available in the UK from Randstad, will be offering visitors valuable insight into its engine cleaning solutions when it exhibits at the 29th Autosport International Show on 10th – 13th of January 2019.

The UK’s fastest-growing deep engine cleaning brand will be exhibiting on stand 3560, right next to the 2019 FIA World Rally Championship stage, as it looks to build on the success of 2018, which has seen it enjoy rapid growth with more than 500 Official TerraClean Service Centres spread across the UK.

It is now establishing an ever-growing presence in the motorsport sector and in recent years, TerraClean’s association with the sport has seen the brand form a successful partnership with triple British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) champion Colin Turkington.

TeraClean will be offering visitors and motorsport fans a special treat at the show, where triple British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) champion Colin Turkington will visit the stand.

As TerraClean’s brand ambassador, Turkington will make several VIP guest appearances during the show, where he will be signing autographs and handing out prizes to daily winners of the Colin Turkington Simulator Challenge.

Visitors to the show will also get to benefit from TerraClean’s technical team, who shall be on stand to share the brand’s unique de-carbonising technology and discuss the solutions available to the trade and motorists such as DPF cleaning, a growing area of concern and one which TerraClean has emerged as market leader.

Phillip Dowd, TerraClean sales director, said: “Autosport International is the ideal opportunity for us to further tap into the motorsports market and demonstrate the benefits a TerraClean service can bring to a highly informed and knowledgeable audience. Not only do TerraClean solutions include engine cleaning and the revival of diesel particulate filters (DPFs), but the benefits are far reaching such as the reduction of harmful emissions and restored MPG. All this equates to improved vehicle performance, making the brand one of the longest running – and most popular – of its kind in the market.

“We are relishing being at 2019’s show for what promises to be another fantastic spectacle for motorsports fans, and we are delighted to welcome Colin back as the reigning BTCC Champion.”

There will also be competitions launched on TerraClean’s Facebook page over the coming weeks: www.facebook.com/terraclean.

    TerraClean-backed Turkington wins BTCC crown

Engine decarbonising brand TerraClean has expressed its delight as its ambassador Colin Turkington has been crowned 2018 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) winner, in a finale on Sunday that topped off a scintillating season.

In an emotionally-charged final weekend at a packed Brands Hatch, Turkington secured the championship in the second race of a day.

After the race, Turkington said: ““That was the most difficult race of the year. I was trying so hard. We didn’t have the car to go forward. I was getting shuffled back so quickly. The emotions are just so raw. I was driving around there preparing for a dog fight in race three thinking ‘how on earth I was going to get forward’. I wasn’t expecting the news on the radio that I’d won. I’m so pleased for so many people. The first one, I really wanted it for me. It was my goal in 2009 and I wanted it more than anything.”

In what has proved to be another epic season of characteristic ups and downs at such a high level, West Surrey Racing’s Turkington made a positive start to his 2018 campaign, snatching second place in the opening race of the season back in April at Brands Hatch, which was then followed by two second-place finishes at Thruxton.

June saw him claiming an emotional first win of the British Touring Car season at Oulton Park, after his mother sadly passed away, where he took victory in race two and claiming a podium in race three. Later that same month, he remained top of the British Touring Car standings after three top-five finishes at Croft, the Yorkshire circuit that marked the halfway point of the season.

Chasing a third title success in the championship, Turkington took a 34-point lead into the final British Touring Car Championship round after a strong weekend at Silverstone, before heading into the final round of the championship at Brands Hatch.

Martin Dowd, Randstad managing director, said: “What more can we say, we are ecstatic with Colin’s achievement, what an absolute masterclass he has shown right from the start of the season to all his fans. We’re extremely proud he has chosen to be associated with the TerraClean brand and our growing network of service centres. A special congratulations also to Westbourne Motorsport and James Dorlin for their victory in the UK Clio Cup Championship.”

New MOT changes boost TerraClean’s DPF cleaning solution

The engine decarbonizing and DPF cleaning expert TerraClean has seen an upsurge in enquiries from motorists since new MOT rules came into force.

Under the new changes to the law that came into effect on 20 May, diesel cars fitted with a DPF will now be given a ‘Major’ defect and automatically fail the MOT test if they emit “visible smoke of any colour” during metered checks. Testers will also inspect DPFs closely for signs of removal or tampering, awarding a ‘Major’ defect and failing the car if foul play is detected.

To prevent a DPF-related MOT fail, TerraClean’s service centre network has witnessed an increase in enquiries from drivers. The Terraclean DPF cleaning service includes testing and complete cleaning of the DPF, offering the additional benefit of removing stubborn carbon deposits, created as part of the vehicle’s regeneration processes, without actual DPF removal.

Martin Dowd, Randstad managing director, added: “Clogged DPFs are a growing problem for motorists particularly now under the new laws, which will result in a failed MOT.

“The solutions available from TerraClean in the efficient removal of carbon deposits and DPF cleaning means we have seen a huge number of enquiries from motorists since 20 May, placing TerraClean very much in demand now, more than ever before.”

Colin Turkington in emotional BTCC win at Oulton Park

TerraClean ambassador Colin Turkington has sealed an emotional win at the 2018 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship on Sunday, taking a commanding race two victory at Oulton Park and immediately dedicating the win to his mother, who sadly passed away last week.

The two-time BTCC champion and Team BMW driver, cheered on by many TerraClean service centres in attendance, was in contention from the start, finishing sixth in the first race before taking the chequered flag in race two, his first of the 2018 season. Turkington also made the podium in the final race at Oulton Park, finishing third.

Turkington said: “Winning always feels good, especially in the BMW. We’ve improved the car a lot and it merits all the hard work we’ve put into it. I’m over the moon for everybody. I just want to dedicate this one to my mum, who’s not here for the first time. Mum, that was for you.”

Turkington currently leads the standings by 12 points over Adam Morgan and Jack Goff. The next BTCC race of the season takes places on 23/24 June at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire.

Scotlands Ash Garage up for national industry award

Scotlands Ash Garage, owned by Peter Welch, has been shortlisted for an industry award hosted by Automechanika Birmingham in partnership with Garage Wire, in the category ‘Best Small Garage’ for the prestigious ‘Garage of the Year’ award.
The family-run business has a reputation for excellent service, honesty and transparency, and has been serving local motorists in Didcot & South Oxfordshire for over 30 years, working tirelessly to improve the perception of independent garages throughout the UK.

The garage, a fervent supporter of the Teenage Cancer Trust, has also raised more than £8000 to date as it continues to donate £1 to the life-saving charity for every MOT it carries out.

Oxfordshire’s leading independent garage is also committed to supporting other various charities and events, having previously sponsored local football team, Wallingford Town FC and continues to play an active role in the community.

The garage has had another busy year and its hard work has not gone unnoticed as it overcame tough competition from a number of entries to gain a place against the other six shortlisted contenders in its category, all hoping to win the £1000 cash prize.

Peter Welch said: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award and that all our efforts are being noticed. For us, customer service is key. We want customers to come to us feeling comfortable and safe, trusting us to do the best we can at the best possible price and therefore we go out of our way to make our workshop inviting and friendly.”
There are six award categories in total, and the winner of each category will be decided by a judging panel of automotive industry experts, due to be announced at an evening dinner to be held at The Director’s Club, Aston Villa FC on 5 June, which all category finalists will be invited to attend. The overall Garage of the Year winner will then be announced at Automechanika Birmingham on 6 June from these six category winners.

    Latest News

Revised F-Gas regulation is now beginning to have an impact on air-conditioning services, pushing prices up.

The regulation replaces the 2006 F-Gas Regulation, strengthening all of the pre-existing requirements and introducing a number of important new measures.

The aim of the regulation is to reduce F-Gas emissions by two thirds and to encourage the use of viable and more climate-friendly alternatives. As a result, the regulation introduced a quota system to limit and control the amount

of HFCs that can be placed on the market in all applications.

For motorists, this particularly impacts the supply of 134a gas, used as the refrigerant in vehicle air-conditioning units.

From 1 January 2018, this phase down represents 63% of 2015 levels and will decrease down to 45% in 2021.

At the same time, use of 134a gas in new vehicles was banned from 2017 and replaced with 1234yf which has a significantly lower global warming potential.

Scotlands Ash Garage has the capability to re-gas vehicle air-conditioning systems using either gas.
