Coronavirus Pandemic - Vehicles that have MOTs due from 30 March will have their date moved 6 months forward – so tests due on 30 March 2020 will become due on 30 September 2020, and so on.
Question 1 The government will keep this under review to manage the spread of COVID-19. Question 2 DVSA will start moving MOT expiry dates automatically in the MOT system from 30/3. Question 3 Some customers may still wish to have MOTs beyond the 30/3, even if their car is exempt – and you can do this. Question 4 The current failure rate for MOTs is 30 percent. For Scotlands Ash Garage, that means on average 60 vehicles a month will not pass the basic roadworthiness test (MOT). We are extremely concerned by this figure. Question 5 Taxis still have to still comply by the current roadworthiness tests.
